I’ve been absolutely captivated by the profound magic of yoga nidra lately. Such huge healing potential within our practice and it opens the doorway to so much more.
My 200-hour training barely skimmed the surface of this beautiful practice, and now I’m yearning to dive deeper. I’m trying to find a dedicated yoga nidra certification program or perhaps a wise teacher who specializes in this art of conscious relaxation. If any of you beautiful yogis have experienced a training that truly ignited your understanding of yoga nidra, I would be over the moon to hear your recommendations!

Oh! I would also be really interested in this but I haven’t seen anywhere actively focusing on this. There’s probably not a complete 200 hour one (at least not one I’ve seen so far).
Hey there! You should definitely check out Mona Anand at ISHTA Yoga in NYC she’s incredible! Her teaching style gets a solid 9/10 for clarity and depth. I believe she offers online trainings now, which is perfect if you’re not in the New York area.
The ISHTA approach she teaches? Accessibility rating: 8.5/10 it beautifully blends Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda traditions. Her virtual sessions maintain that authentic studio energy surprisingly well (tech setup quality: 9/10).
What really sets her apart is how she weaves ancient wisdom into modern practice. I took one of her workshops last year and it completely transformed my understanding of pranayama… But that’s a story for another day…
When I visited Kripalu’s retreat center in the Berkshires last spring, they’ve been quietly revolutionizing yoga education since the early 1970s.
Their approach to yoga nidra goes way beyond the physical poses, weaving in this beautiful philosophy that yoga is meant to inspire connection and compassion, which reminded me of how Swami Rama first brought these deeper yogic sleep practices to the West around the same time.
omg yes i went down this rabbit hole too and discovered there are actually 6 main lineages of yoga nidra: Amrit, Bihar, Himalayan, Total Yoga Nidra, I Rest and Para Yoga Nidra
they all have slightly different vibes and approaches which totally blew my mind because i thought yoga nidra was just one thing
definitely explore which lineage resonates with you before committing to a training it makes such a difference in how you’ll eventually share this practice
Has anyone here tried Bodsphere’s 30 hour immersion? What about Tomer Weiss’s 25 hour intensive? Are these the kinds of deeper dive formats that really transform your practice? Do you find that longer workshops like these help you break through plateaus? Which teachers have you found create that perfect balance of challenge and support in extended trainings?
Are you looking for personal training for your own practice or YTT to teach it to others?
My yoga nidra learning (after my 200 hour YTT as well) came from practicing with teachers who had studied directly under the Bihar School lineage, as they really understood the systematic rotation of consciousness that makes this practice so powerful.
Before investing in another certification, try attending some dedicated yoga nidra workshops or retreats first, because experiencing different teaching styles helped me discover which approach resonated most deeply with my own practice. The magic really unfolds when you find a teacher whose voice and pacing create that perfect container for your journey inward!
Having taught at different studios and retreat centers over the years, I’ve noticed that most places really do want to see that 200hr certification (even for specialized practices like yoga nidra). While your current training gave you a foundation, I’d suggest looking for a program that’s Yoga Alliance registered as it just opens so many more doors internationally, and you’ll find it easier to share this beautiful practice wherever your path takes you. The depth of study in a dedicated program will transform not just your understanding but how you can guide others through those profound states of conscious relaxation!
I had such a wonderful experience with Arhanta Yoga for my Yoga Nidra certification! Did the training online and it was faaaantastic.
They’ve got beautiful ashrams in both India and the Netherlands, though from what I understand, the Yoga Nidra program is exclusively offered through their online platform. The teachings were so comprehensive and the instructors really brought the ancient practice to life, even through the screen! Highly recommend if you’re looking to deepen your understanding of this powerful relaxation technique.
The most transformative discovery in my yoga nidra is the bridge between healthcare professionals and yogis, creating healing possibilities that neither world could achieve alone.
