Beyond Yoga Maternity Leggings?

Hey everyone! I’ve been eyeing Beyond Yoga’s maternity leggings lately, and I’m totally torn about pulling the trigger on them. The designs are gorgeous (especially those floral patterns!), but man, the price tag is making me pause since I know maternity wear has such a short lifespan. Maybe I could keep wearing them afterward, but I don’t know.

I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with their maternity line and whether the quality justifies the cost? My main concerns are whether they’ll pill after a few washes and if they’re actually squat-proof because nothing’s worse than realizing mid-class that everyone can see through your leggings. I’m also curious if they transition well to postpartum wear or if that high waistband becomes annoying once your belly goes down.

Part of me thinks I should just size up in their regular leggings instead of going the maternity route, but I’m not sure if that would work as well for support during prenatal yoga classes. Has anyone found a sweet spot between investing in quality maternity activewear and not breaking the bank on something you’ll only wear for a few months? I’d love to hear about your experiences with Beyond Yoga or any other brands you’ve loved during pregnancy and beyond!

I had their maternity romper at first and I’ve absolutely loved it but I never tried their leggings.

I know it’s more of a discount one but the Butterluxe leggings lasted a surprising amount during my maternity leave and they’re much cheaper.

They won’t have the same quality but I go through leggings too quickly I find it hard to justify the expensive ones sometimes.

Going with their “regular extended” sizes worked better for me throughout pregnancy, but we’re all a little weird, wonderful and different, so your mileage might vary!

The 1X to 4X range gave me room to grow without that maternity band that can feel restricting during certain poses. Plus, when I discovered they have a whole Beyond Birth collection (and even toddler leggings), I could build a matching mama and me yoga wardrobe, extending the value beyond those nine months.

I just got these and I’m absolutely in love!

They’re completely opaque during all my yoga flows (even in pigeon pose, which is my usual test for see-through leggings). The belly band is very soft and supportive, perfect for my growing bump during prenatal yoga classes (which I was really worried about).

I’ve already put them through about 5 wash cycles and they still look brand new with zero pilling. Currently at 24 weeks and they’re keeping up with all my modifications beautifully, though I can’t speak to how they’ll work for postnatal practice yet!

Here I am, floating in the sacred space of 40 weeks and 2 days, embracing each breath as I await the arrival of my little one, who seems perfectly content in their first and most natural yoga pose.

I love the Spacedye Love the Bump Midis. Supported me during every moment of mindful movement. Honoring the beautiful changes of my body while allowing me to maintain my practice with grace and comfort, flowing seamlessly from morning meditation to evening restorative poses as if they were designed by someone who truly understands the divine connection between motherhood and movement.

They have a ‘Beyond Birth Collection’ specifically designed to transition from pregnancy through postpartum. That might solve your problem.

The high waistbands on these pieces are genius because they provide bump support during pregnancy, but then work perfectly for light tummy compression after baby arrives. I wore mine to my first postnatal yoga class and felt so supported. It’s like getting two wardrobes in one, which suddenly makes the price point feel way more reasonable when you think about the cost per wear extending beyond those nine months… pretty good as far as yoga equipment goes.

Just my two cents, but the Spacedye Love the Bump style runs a bit snug sizing up one from your pre-pregnancy size gives that perfect balance of support without feeling restricted during those deep prenatal stretches!

Well, actually, I think you mean you love your set, technically these come as separates even though they’re designed to coordinate! But yes, they’re absolutely amazing. I also picked up their maternity space dye dress (fun fact: it’s technically called ‘spacedye’ as one word in their catalog, though everyone says it as two!).

It’s become my go-to for prenatal yoga classes. The bamboo blend is just perfect for those heated vinyasa sessions!

They are incredibly comfortable and seem to be holding up fairly well! FWIW, I don’t heat dry any leggings that I own to avoid pilling (I tumble dry with no heat).

Can we talk for a second about how yoga brands never put proper care instructions on their tags though? Like, you spend $100+ on premium leggings and the tag just says ‘wash cold’ - okay but WHAT ELSE?? I had to learn the hard way that fabric softener is apparently the enemy of all athletic wear and will destroy the moisture wicking properties. Would it kill them to mention that?

I really like mine butif you’re drawn to hot yoga classes, please be mindful of choosing fabrics that truly breathe and pull moisture away from your skin. Your body is working so hard already, and overheating can be a real concern.

Haven’t tried Beyond myself, but if you’re looking for leggings that’ll take you through your whole pregnancy and yoga practice, the Aerie crossover waist ones are absolutely amazing! I’ve been flowing in them since before I got pregnant, and here I am at 36 weeks still rocking them in prenatal yoga.

The waistband sits so comfortably, whether you’re in child’s pose or warrior sequences. I grabbed a size up, thinking I’d need the extra room, but honestly, they’re almost too roomy now. And yes, totally holds up through all those deep yoga squats and wide-legged poses without any transparency issues!

I have a confession… I actually bought both the maternity version AND just sized up in their regular Spacedye leggings because I couldn’t decide either.

After wearing both through my practice for weeks, here’s my truth: the maternity ones are worth it. The regular ones, even sized up, kept rolling down during cat cow transitions and created this weird pressure point right below my belly during seated forward folds. The maternity band distributes everything so evenly, it’s like the difference between wearing a regular bra versus a properly fitted sports bra. I felt guilty spending the money at first but these are the only leggings that don’t leave marks on my skin after shavasana.

Sizing up in Beyond Yoga maternity leggings actually backfired for me because they kept rolling down during cat cow stretches until my third trimester, when my bump finally filled them out properly! I don’t think this is a problem with the brand, just a problem with maternity leggings in general.

They have their maternity line on sale right now. The Out of Pocket High Waist Maternity Leggings are $110, and the Empire Waist ones are $108, which might help with your budget concerns! I used their maternity bike shorts, which could be a great alternative for hot yoga classes without the full leggings (depending on your class rules).

A girlfriend of mine said they really supported her lower back and not just the belly. Total lifesaver in her last trimester where everything is trying to pull forward.

I loved my first pair so much that I ordered two more (and a pair of their shorts too). There’s something deeply comforting about wearing clothes that honor this sacred journey of pregnancy while still allowing me to move freely through my practice. Trust me, when you find leggings that make you feel supported both physically and spiritually during this transformative time, the investment becomes less about the price and more about nurturing yourself.

I get the hesitation about the price. Have you looked at Poshmark or Mercari? Lots of people sell their Beyond Yoga maternity leggings there after they’re done with them. You can usually find them for like half the price and they’re still in good shape since the quality is decent.

Anyone who loved these leggings-did you keep wearing them after birth? If you stopped, was the switch back to your regular leggings fine, or did the maternity band feel awkward once you didnt need it?

These days I just wore whatever’s comfortable (sometimes my partner’s old sweats, sometimes regular leggings folded down. Works fine for me.
